Here within the Anglian Water @one Alliance we are a totally collaborative organisation made up of our seven partner companies (Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska and SWECO) and our extended supply chain, working together to deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.
We are gearing up for our most exciting and challenging Asset Management Period yet, known as AMP8, which will see us deliver a programme of work larger than we’ve ever delivered before. We’ll be embarking on a new kind of project delivery focusing on nature-based solutions like wetlands and urban drainage schemes.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Environment and Sustainability Manager to lead and support our commitment to environmental excellence and sustainability within the @One Alliance.
What will you be doing as our new Environment and Sustainability Manager?
 As an Environment and Sustainability Manager, you’ll oversee environmental compliance, promote sustainable practices across projects, and ensure that the company adheres to environmental legislation and best practices.
The Environment and Sustainability Manager will manage a team of Environment and Sustainability Advisors and collaborate across various teams to drive continuous improvement in environmental performance. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on both our projects and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Direct Project Support: Provide expertise and support to construction projects on environmental issues. Develop and implement sustainable working practices during construction. Collaborate across the @one Alliance to ensure compliance with the Alliance Management System (AMS) and ensure compliance with environmental information within the AMS.
Alliance Management System: Keep track of evolving legislation and promote best practices within the Alliance. Manage environmental audits, inspections, and non-conformance reports (NCR).
Inspection and Auditing: Develop and manage an environmental audit schedule and carry out ISO 14001 audits. And provide feedback and guidance on audits and inspections.
Communication: Lead regular Environment and Sustainability Team meetings. Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including Anglian Water, to report on environmental performance.
Environmental Training: Develop and deliver environmental training across the business and create educational tools and materials to address near misses and incidents.
Performance Reporting: Collate, validate, and report on environmental data, including sustainability and waste data. Drive continuous improvement based on performance targets and audit outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience:

Proven environmental management experience within the construction industry.
Degree in an environmental-related subject, PIEMA Membership (IEMA Chartered status desirable).
Lead ISO 14001 Auditor or Auditor training.
Experience with environmental and sustainability issues such as contaminated land, waste management, soil testing, carbon, ecology and incident investigation.
Familiarity with relevant legislation and regulations.

Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in document production (Visio, Power BI, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, GIS).
Strong organisational and negotiation skills.
Ability to develop strategic solutions and resolve conflicts.
