The read on as we may just have the role for you……We are currently recruiting for an Operations Manager to join, lead and manage our fantastic team at our Hayes Asphalt plant in Hillingdon. You will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective running of the onsite modern asphalt batching plant.You will be managing a team that produces 250k tonnes of Asphalt per year, alongside a railhead operation importing up to 200k tonnes of aggregates annually with a recycling centre inhouse. Within this role you will manage and be accountable for all operations on our plant. Safety and operational standards are the fundamentals of the role with cost control, people management, delivery to customer needs and performance improvement being key. Managing plant compliance with business policies and procedures and ensuring that legislative compliance is also a strong aspect of the role.Main ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Area Operations Manager, key tasks and responsibilities of the Operations Managerinclude (not exhaustive):Responsible for managing, coaching and developing a highly skilled, fit for purpose and extremely motivated team to ensure business continuity and reduce business riskLeading change and continuous improvement initiatives, whilst maintaining disciplined stock management processes and producing operational reportsResponsible for all aspects of budgetary control for the multi-faceted operationManaging stock control for all incoming materials for the busy depot and rail head with multiple train deliveries each weekMaintaining and implementing existing and new, standard Operating procedures, risk assessments and training your staff on the sameManaging and overseeing the safe operation of the plant and the planned preventative maintenance of all of the site’s equipment fixed and mobile with responsibility for your own safety and that of colleagues and business partnersOrganising statutory inspections and actioning defects identified within these reportsReporting and investigating any unsafe or hazardous working practicesIssuing safety briefings and toolbox talks to your operational teamManaging proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of your staff and keep an up-to-date training matrixCollating and reporting on monthly performance KPI for your business unit for the Area Operations Manager and drive operational performance through KPI’sEnsuring appropriate Contractor and visitor inductions are carried out in line with company proceduresKey Stakeholders you will liaise within the responsibilities of this role:Area Operations Manager – Assistant Plant Manager - Health & Safety team - Procurement and support teams - National Logistics team - Area Operations teams - Area Commercial teams - Area HR Manager - Industry Bodies - CustomersThis role is a Days role Monday to Friday, but flexibility is key to this role with the expectation to be available to meet with our plant’s operational needs as the plant operates on a rotational shift in line with the 24/7 running of the plant.The Ideal CandidateTo be successful in this role the ideal candidate for the position of Operations Manager you will have experience and knowledge ofESSENTIALExperiencePrevious managerial experience of an Asphalt / Aggregates / Ready Mix operations environmentFull knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work SystemsWorking knowledge of production processes, H&S and Environmental policiesA high level of education is required along, with excellent IT skills including a high level of competence with SAP and the Microsoft packages – Word, Excel and PowerPointAbility to multitask and manage changeQualificationsMembership of the Institute of Asphalt Technology is highly desirable, but not compulsoryIOSH Managing SafelyThe role is based our Hayes plant in Hillingdon and is easily accessible and commutable from towns such as Hayes, West Drayton, Slough, Hounslow, Watford, Twickenham, Stanwell, Northolt, Ealing, Acton, Harrow, Pinner, Ruislip, Gerrards Cross, Northwood, Feltham, Beaconsfield, Maidenhead, Amersham, Stanmore, Rickmansworth surrounding areas.
