We are looking for an Assistant Head on a 1 year Fixed Term contract to lead on teaching and Learning and academic development of the school. The post holder will oversee reporting, data and tracking and will be an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team. The post holder will be a form tutor and an integral part of the teaching team showcasing best teaching practice in all core subjects. The Assistant Head will lead on the curriculum development and monitoring for English and Maths.The Head of Teaching and Learning of the Prep School is strategically responsible for overseeing the quality of teaching and learning in the Prep School, in effective liaison with the Deputy Head. The role is, therefore, wide-ranging and encompasses many aspects of the life of the School. The role carries remission from teaching contact time equivalent to 6 periods, agreed on an annual basis with the Principal and governed by the needs of the School. In addition to the specific duties and responsibilities outlined below, the Head of Teaching and Learning works with the Deputy Head and other members of the SLT to implement the strategic vision for the School, to ensure that it has a high profile in the community, to engage effectively with parents and other stakeholders and to assist in recruitment and retention through the continual improvement of standards and provision. The role requires a broad and up to date knowledge of educational policy, current research and liaison with a range of stakeholders, from ISI to the Local Authority. There is a public-facing requirement to speak in formal and informal settings to parents, prospective parents and a range of other audiences, as well as supporting the School’s calendar of events and productions/performances.
